Welcome to my Portfolio Website!
My name is Jose Kuribreña, and I’m currently an Industrial Design student at Emily Carr University in Vancouver, BC.
Growing up in Mexico City, one of the largest urban environments in the world. The constant noise and energy of such a densely populated area led me to discover the calmness of outdoor adventuring in nature. This connection to nature quickly became a driving force in my design practice.
After studying for two years at OCAD University in Toronto , I struggled to find my calling within its design world. It wasn’t until I realized my passion for outdoor equipment design that I decided to move to Vancouver, a city with a very close connection to the natural world.
As a rock climber and avid outdoor adventure seeker, I embrace discomfort as a way to grow. This mindset has taught me to adapt and learn in any situation, a philosophy that deeply informs my design practice.
I constantly try push the limits of what I believe is possible, with a strong passion and focus on digital fabrication techniques. My designs reflect my values: functionality-driven tools that enable exploration, sustainable materials with circular lifecycles to help preserve the natural world, and a commitment to empowering others to embark on their own adventures.
Thank you for visiting my portfolio! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
